Professor Itse Sagay Appointed To Chair Presidential Committee On Corruption

Professor Itsejuwa Esanjumi has been selected as the Head of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Corruption.

The Federal Government will also partner with: [Ford Foundation], [Mac Arthur Foundation] and [Open Society Foundation] to establish the Anti-Corruption and Criminal Justice Reform Fund with an initial capital of $5 Million. This fund will assist in implementing key components of the Presidential Advisory Committee.

 

Born on 20th December 1940; Professor Itsejuwa Esanjumi is a distinguished legal scholar, Professor of Law and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He is a former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Benin and once held the position as Legal Counsel to Nigeria during the Cameroon-Nigeria border dispute. Political commentators have reacted positively to his appointment; Nigeria needs an individual who understands the legal framework in which an anti-corruption crusade can be conducted. He is the perfect person to head this committee.

The committee will offer recommendations for legislative reforms that need to be implemented in Nigeria’s Criminal Justice System. They will also be expected to offer advice which will aid the Federal Government’s war against corruption.

  • Professor Bolaji Owasanoye (Executive Secretary)- A Professor of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies

  • Professor Alemika- A Professor of Sociology

  • Professor Femi Odekunle- A Professor of Criminology

  • Dr Benedicta Daudu- An Associate Professor of International Law

  • Professor Sadiq Radda- A Professor of Criminology
