Shortly after taking office, President Buhari, on Friday the 26th of June dissolved the NNPC board. This government organization is responsible for almost all aspects of the Nigerian oil industry. It is also a state owned oil company from which billions of dollars have been reported missing. According to a statement signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Danladi Kifasi, this dissolution was with immediate effect. The Federal Government thanked members of the dissolved board for their service to the nation.
